One of my favorite podcasts I listen to is Speaking of Faith, a documentary series produced by American Public Media. The host, Krista Trippett back in 2006 did a series on the Globalization and the Rise of Religion. In the podcast, she sits down with Dr. Peter Berger, Sociologist and Director of the Institute on Culture, Religion and World Affairs at Boston University. Dr. Berger talks about the globalization of evangelism of different faiths – be it Islam, Christianity and Buddhism and what this means for the ongoing thought that secularization and modernism would mean the diminished role of religion in society. This has not been the case…
Here’s a quote from the website:
Experts once predicted that as the world grew more modern, religion would decline. Precisely the opposite has proven true; religious movements are surging and driving “alternative globalizations” across the world. Two leading thinkers offer a penetrating view of how and why religion of all kinds is shaping the global economy and political order.
